As a result of displacements and lateral movements, major cracks have appeared on the masonry walls of the façade of Tower 600 in New York. During a due diligence operation, the decision to monitor the structural behaviour of the tower was taken to identify any corrective measures that may be required. Analysis of the structure revealed that the design of the structure did not present any defects but that its excessive flexibility could be the cause of lateral movements and also therefore the damage observed. Thanks to the OSMOS technologies, the client was able to collect accurate and objective data concerning the behaviour of its structure, identify the dynamic characteristics of the building and thus decide if any work was necessary. The OSMOS system supported the client in taking decisions regarding operations to be carried out and to enable it to note the correct progress of the work.
