As part of the renovation work to modify office spaces, some posts had to be removed. In order to ensure that work progress smoothly, the client wished to know the bearing capacity of the floors. Nine beams under the same level were instrumented while the upper floors were loaded using bags of cement, such as to obtain a linear load of 100kg/ml. A point load of 1,450 kg was then applied to the centre of the beam. All the results demonstrated the linearity of the behaviour of the floors, the elastic behaviour being confirmed by the remarkable stability of the neutral axis.
